Luca Calatroni wins Smith Institute TakeAIM competition
Luca Calatroni, a PhD student working in the Cambridge Centre for Analysis and DAMTP with Dr Carola Schoenlieb has won the fourth annual Smith Institute TakeAIM competition for his submission 'Image Ma-therapy: detect or defect?' concerned with new mathematical medical imaging methods.
The Smith Institute , with sponsorship from corporate partners, runs the TakeAIM competition to make visible the crucial role that mathematics will increasingly play in all aspects of our lives. Entries were judged on the following criteria:
- the opportunities that the research opens up;
- the possible future benefits, in both economic and social terms;
- the quality of communication for a general audience.
