Nigel Peake receives AIAA 2015 Aeroacoustics Award

Prof Nigel Peake

Professor Nigel Peake of DAMTP has received the 2015 Aeroacoustics Award of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, presented in June at the AIAA 2015 Aviation Forum in Dallas. The Award, which is presented for an outstanding  technical or scientific achievement resulting from an individual's  contribution to the field of aircraft community noise reduction, recognises Professor Peake’s “significant contributions to the understanding and prediction of turbomachinery, noise generation and scattering.”

Alongside this, the work of Professor Peake and his colleagues on the mechanisms that allow owls to fly so quietly has been receiving wide attention recently - see
