John Barrow and Adrian Kent awarded FQXi grants
Professors John Barrow and Adrian Kent of DAMTP have each been awarded significant grants by the Foundational Questions Institute (FQXi). Their projects, "Stuff Happens: the Physics of Events" (Barrow) and "Quasiclassical events in Relativistic Quantum Field Theory" (Kent), were two of twenty selected in a worldwide competition for foundational research under the heading of 'Physics of What Happens'. The full list of awards can be found at http://fqxi.org/grants/large/awardees/list
FQXi, which is supported by philanthropic donation has the mission 'to catalyze, support, and disseminate research on questions at the foundations of physics and cosmology, particularly new frontiers and innovative ideas integral to a deep understanding of reality but unlikely to be supported by conventional funding sources.'
