Michael McIntyre - A 70th Birthday Celebration

Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th April 2011 Michael McIntyre
Centre for Mathematical Sciences, University of Cambridge

This meeting will celebrate Michael's scientific career, marking his many contributions to fluid dynamics and its applications, including atmospheric and ocean science, solar physics and acoustics. The meeting is generously sponsored by the Royal Meteorological Society.

The programme of talks will cover the wide range of topics that have interested Michael with, we hope, much discussion and many searching questions from the audience. Speakers will include David Andrews (Oxford), Oliver Buhler (Courant), David Dritschel (St Andrews), Kerry Emanuel (MIT), Douglas Gough (Cambridge), Brian Hoskins (Imperial/Reading), Tim Palmer (Oxford/ECMWF), Peter Rhines (Washington), Ted Shepherd (Toronto), Adrian Simmons (ECMWF), Darryn Waugh (Johns Hopkins) and Jim Woodhouse (Cambridge). We hope that many will join us at this meeting, not only Michael's friends and collaborators, but anyone who has been interested in or influenced by his work over the past 40 years or so.

Oliver Buhler, Peter Haynes, Tim Palmer (organising committee)
