I work with Toby Wood and Rich Wood on, respectively, the solar tachocline and Jupiter. We are gaining a fresh view of both problems from my earlier work on stratified turbulence in the terrestrial stratosphere.

I am interested in the dynamics of atmospheres on terrestrial and gas-giant planets, particularly Jupiter's weather layer and Mars' polar regions.

I am interested in the solar dynamo, magnetic buoyancy instabilities and sunspot formation.

My research is on fluctuations in mean field dynamos, I am also interested in Sunspots and the Solar dynamo.

Pattern formation and localization in lattice equations, symmetric dynamics, network dynamics

I am interested in the large scale dynamics of the weather-layer in gas giant planets.
