HPC-LEAP is a highly interdisciplinary Horizon 2020 programme for European Joint Doctorates applying high performance computing research to problems in the life sciences, engineering, and physics.  PhD students have studied mathematical and computational concepts underpinning current and future numerical simulations in turbulent flows, computational biology, and lattice quantum chromodynamics. The projects have been designed to enhance collaborations and interactions across these disciplines, integrating non-academic partners, and to develop methodologies that efficiently use large-scale numerical simulations on future high performance computer systems.

This conference will mark the conclusion of the grant period. Experts in the thematic areas will be invited to review recent developments and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, and early-stage researchers will report on the results of their work.

*HPC-LEAP supports campaigns for gender balance in science, technology, and engineering.  The gender balance of those invited to speak was 50% female and 50% male.

Registration

There is a registration fee of £160, which includes the cost of lunches during the Conference and the Wednesday Conference dinner.  The registration fee is waived for HPC-LEAP participants, but a pass code is necessary. The link to register and book accommodation is at the bottom of this page. Please observe that the registration deadline is 25 June 2018.

Accommodation

A limited block of rooms has been reserved in Churchill College (book at time of registration).  There are 2 types of rooms available, double en-suite rooms (single occupancy) at £68.83/night for 3 nights; and single en-suite rooms at £58.33/night for 3 nights.  The bookings are for arrival Tuesday 10 July and departure Friday 13 July. The single rooms are only being held until 31 May 2018.  Book early to avoid disappointment. The link to register and book accommodation is at the bottom of this page.

Participants can also find their own accommodation using sites such as Meet Cambridge, hotels.com, booking.com, or maps.google.co.uk. The post-code for the conference venue is CB3 0WA.

Conference Dinner

The conference dinner (for up to 60 people) will be held the evening of Wednesday 11 July 2018, Churchill College. The cost is included in the registration, as long as space is available.  The dinner will on the formal side, but the weather may be warm, so we recommend "smart casual" attire.
