Objectives
The conference will review past and recent achievements, as well
as future challenges in
the fields of atomic physics and solar spectroscopy. The meeting
will serve as an opportunity to celebrate the career of Dr Helen Mason
by recognising her unique contribution to the field of atomic
physics and its application to solar and astrophysical plasma spectroscopy. Topics covered will include: atomic physics
calculations and data, development and application of plasma
diagnostic techniques to measure the physical plasma parameters in
the solar atmosphere, as well as observations and modeling of solar
active regions, loops, and flares.
Location
The meeting has taken place at the Department of Applied
Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) in the Centre for Mathematical Sciences
at the University of Cambridge.
Financial Support
A limited amount of funding is available to support EU PhD students. Financial support for the conference has been provided by the Science and Technology Facilities Council, the Royal Astronomical Society and the European Space Agency.
