Cambridge Science Festival Maths Open Day 2017
The biennial Science Festival Maths Open Day is a joint event between the two Cambridge maths departments, DAMTP and DPMMS, attracting hundreds of enthusiastic visitors, mostly families with young children. The most recent Open Day was held on Saturday 25th March 2017, with stalls featuring posters, demonstrations and activities from many sub-groups within CMS. The event was a great success, with ideas and contributions from various members of the AFD group on a range of topics relating to astrophysical fluid dynamics. This included multimedia displays, posters and hands-on exhibits demonstrating the principles of turbulence, sound waves, exoplanets, magnetospheres, solar activity, meteorite formation and space weather.
